It’s easy to combine a trip to Paris with a few rounds of classic golf, because a number of great golf courses are located in and just outside the city. The Chantilly region is the top-rated golf area near Paris, but Fontainebleau and Versailles are also home to some great courses which you can get to with our guide.

Paris International Golf Club - Golf course

The only course in France to have been designed by world-famous golfer Jack Nicklaus, this Paris golf course offers one of the highest rated rounds in the whole country. Wide fairways, tricky bunkers and impeccable greens combine to create an exciting challenge. The club’s enormous clubhouse boasts many luxury facilities, including a spa, swimming pool, tennis courts and a gourmet restaurant. 18 holes, par 73.

Golf de Fontainebleau - Golf course

This forest-laden Paris course, designed in 1909, is one of the oldest golf courses in all of France. Its landscape has a distinct British feel, recalling the home of the sport. Look out for the wonderful art deco clubhouse, which makes for a picturesque place to relax after your round. Located about an hour’s drive from Paris, it features a pitch and putt course and a driving range on site. 18 holes, par 72. Closed on Tuesdays.

Golf de Chantilly - Golf course

This classic course, designed by legendary architect Tom Simpson at the start of the 20th Century, is regarded as one of the best courses in all of Europe. This challenging course demands great accuracy from players, with both woodlands and strategically-placed bunkers to contend with. A second, newer course is also available on the same site, which is located about 48km from central Paris. Open to visitors from Monday to Wednesday. 18 holes, par 71 and par 73.

Golf National - Golf course

The current home of the French Open, this tough Paris golf course is one of the top-rated clubs in Europe by professional golfers. It boasts two 18-hole courses and a nine-hole course. The championship Albatros course is not for the less confident player, with a par of 76 and many tricky fairways. Just 30km from Paris, it’s a convenient option for golf during your Paris travel. A round on the top course is €80 on weekdays during summer, or €120 at weekends.
